Giving young people the edge in business.

The MADE Festival is back and we are proud to present a series of workshops designed for young people interested in business, enterprise, entrepreneurship, self employment, and boosting their professional skills.

All of our workshops are geared towards equipping young people with concrete tools that will help them get the most out of their professional journey.

Workshops are priced at £5 each, or all four for £15.

1. Networking Effectively

Networking effectively is a key part of making sales, collaborating with other businesses and understanding the market.

This workshop will focus on the crux of good networking: how you make the other person feel.

  • understand and develop active listening skills
  • raise awareness of non-verbal communication
  • ask constructive questions to get the most out of your conversations
  • respond to verbal and non verbal feedback appropriately
  • apply these skills in a networking environment

2. Personality in Business

Personality measures are used in the workplace to hire the right people, build effective teams and market to customers well.

This workshop will use one model of personality archetyping in order to help you

  • recognise your own personality type
  • assess your strengths and weaknesses in a business environment
  • understand why conflicts may occur in teams
  • put together a well balanced team
  • speak the language of other personality types in order to get along, make sales and meet objectives

3. Mindful Time Management

Getting the most out of your working day is about so much more than hours you put in or the tasks on the list. To truly manage your time effectively you must understand your lifestyle as a whole.

This workshop will take you through guided self reflection in order to:

  • explore your sense of identity and how your current goals fit into it
  • recognise why some tasks are always on our to do lists
  • find discrepancies between what you want to achieve and what you are achieving
  • introduce a model for managing your time week by week
  • set effective task goals for the week ahead

4. Sales and Persuasion

Whether you are selling a product, service, idea or entire business model the same skills are required. Understanding the customer and persuading them to buy into your solution is one of the biggest factors in a successful business.

This active workshop will cover:

  • what motivates customers to buy
  • the difference between features and benefits
  • telling the right story for your sale
  • understanding how to use non-verbal communication to your advantage
  • practicing your pitch
